HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM
CHESHIRE THEATRE GUILD

Exciting and important information re 2006 workshops/courses

There is still time to enrol for the “Directing for the Terrified” course on February 5th.

Please note

The venue is now Knutsford Little Theatre.

A further enrolment form is enclosed and “thank you” to those who have already booked places.

Now read on for some advance information on some very special courses / workshops.

Note the Christopher Honer session on March 25th will be for the EXPERIENCED DIRECTOR – don’t confuse this with the February 5th course – intended for thise with less or no experience and covering a wider range of topics to se you on the right path.

For several months I have been assisting the Vale Royal Arts Development officer and others to organise a series of weekend courses / workshops.

This has not been without frustrations, the wheels and cogs of local government do not turn easily or quickly! Often I despaired that our plans would ever come to fruition.

However I gritted my teeth and continued because I knew that if they got off the ground they would be of interest to Cheshire Theatre Guild members.

THESE ARE DAYS THAT CHESHIRE THEATRE GUILD COULD NOT ORGANISE OURSELVES BECAUSE OF HIGH OVERHEADS AND FINANCIAL RISK.

What I have negotiated is that Cheshire Theatre Guild members will receive details of these events 14 days before others get the information. (The same applies to NODA members – the north west rep David Parkes has also assisted in the arrangements). NUMBERS ARE LIMITED AND I WOULD LIKE TO SEE ALL PLACES FILLED BY CHESHIRE THEATRE GUILD.

Look out for an important letter / leaflet at the end of January – it will not be on Cheshire Theatre Guild notepaper but you will find our logo amongst the many others who have funded us. I have had considerable input into the content of the drama related days – others are geared more to musical theatre.

The first of these is on March 25th and I was responsible for getting Christopher Honer – the artistic director of the Library Theatre Manchester to take this workshop on directing.

The next is on April 2nd and the subject is “Stage Combat” with Ralph Casson. We then go to 8th and 9th July when there will be a weekend devoted to Lighting and Sound.

In between on May 13th and May 20th there will be days on Choreography and musical direction, these are obviously of lesser interest but may appeal to those doing pantomime and will be of greater interest to the musical groups affiliated to NODA.

In a few words.

1. Look out for the letter / leaflet.

2. Read and inform your members quickly.

3. Remember you have 14 days to get in first – numbers are limited.

4. There is financial incentive – a saving to be made by booking 2 courses / workshops.

5. Follow the enrolement instructions carefully – Cheshire Theatre Guild are not handling these.

Finally I want to see Cheshire Theatre Guild members supporting these special days in large numbers. If they are a success others will follow.
