When the Tudor Players were founded, the idea was that they would present plays of a bygone age – Tudor plays in fact. For more than 20 years their home base was the Green Room, Manchester, though they also played in competitive Festivals up and down the country (and overseas, if you count the Isle of Man as overseas!) After the Green Room closed in the mid 1970s, Tudor Players only presented one Festival play a year, never in their home area for lack of a venue, and in 1987 they finally stopped that as well. Ron Arscott’s death in 1997 saw the re-forming of Tudors as a tribute to his memory, and they have entered the Isle of Man Easter Festival each year since then, with outstanding success. Since 2000 their Festival entry plays have also been presented in Sale. The latest, “Humble Boy” by Charlotte Jones, was performed at the Waterside Arts Centre, in the newly-built Robert Bolt Theatre in September 2005. 24.03.2008 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
