ONE ACT FESTIVAL RULES 1.
The aim of the competition is to provide an opportunity for Cheshire Theatre
Guild members to further develop their drama skills and experience. 2.
The competition is open to all Cheshire Theatre Guild member groups and
their members - senior and junior. 3.
The age range for entries in the junior category will be 8 – 16 years. 4.
There will be no restriction on the type of play or content. The play can be
either a complete work, an extract or a scene. A copy of the script may be
requested prior to acceptance into the competition. 5.
The group entering the play/plays will be responsible for obtaining all
permission to perform and payment of royalties etc. A copy of the receipt must
be made available for inspection if requested. 6.
The play should run for between 25 and 50 minutes. There will be allowed 10
minutes for setting up and 5 minutes for striking for each play. 7.
No scenery or props will be provided by Cheshire Theatre Guild. Stage props
should be kept to minimum because of limited backstage storage space. Attention
is drawn to the necessity for fireproofing of all materials used on stage and
this must comply with the requirements of the local fire authority. 8.
Simple lighting and sound plots can be submitted (at least 14 days prior to
competition date) and will be provided at the discretion of the lighting and
sound director of the host society. 9.
Standard public liability insurance will be in place for the duration of the
event. Any addition insurance cover considered necessary by participation groups
will be their responsibility. 10.
Cheshire Theatre Guild will not accept responsibility or liability of loss or
damage of or to personal belongings or props. 11.
The plays will be adjudicated and a verbal adjudication given. 12.
Awards will be made in the following categories. a)
Best actor b)
Best actress c)
Best overall production d)
Best overall youth e) Best performance from an under 16 year old f)
Adjudicators award 13.
An entry fee of £25 per play will be charged to cover expenses. This will be in
the form of the issue of 10 tickets (value £2.50 each) which the participating
group can sell to recoup the entry fee. Additional tickets will be available on
request and on the door. A ticket entitles the holder to entry on both days of
the competition. 14.
Entry forms must be returned to the organizer as soon as possible and not later
than the date shown on the form. Entry fees and a copy of the script must
accompany the entry form.
